For nFocal , to lead means to guide, to inspire, to prepare, and to set the stage to make what is necessary possible to accomplish. The backgrounds and experiences listed below have prepared our leadership team for the challenges of building a truly outstanding professional services organization.



Steve Kapp

Steve Kapp is the founder of nFocal and also acts as the President and Principal Consultant. His experience ranges over twenty years of software and systems development. Much of that experience has been with M2M, imaging systems, and networking. Before founding nFocal, Mr. Kapp was the CTO for EMRT Consultants where he fulfilled a variety of roles, including project manager and member of the Board of Directors. Prior to EMRT, Mr. Kapp was a Practice Lead in the Multimedia and Imaging group at Questra Consulting and a Principal Engineer with Picker International (now Philips Medical Systems).

Mr. Kapp’s main focus is development of complex systems and bringing those systems to market. He is a frequent speaker at various industry forums, such as Java One and the Embedded Systems Conferences. He is also the primary author of the Embedded Collections open source project. Mr. Kapp holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Applied Physics from Case Western Reserve University.


Thomas Bullinger

Tom Bullinger is the Vice President of Professional Services at nFocal. Mr. Bullinger has more than twenty years of collective experience in object-oriented systems architecture, data modeling, software engineering, real time systems programming, database design and implementation, digital and mechanical design and testing. Prior to joining nFocal, he was a founder of Isotope 28 and an Adjunct Professor at Rochester Institute of Technology, where he taught software architecture and engineering, object-oriented concepts, and programming in both academic and professional environments. Mr. Bullinger has also been Application Architect and Practice Manager at Questra and an Application Architect at Axeda. He is also a co-founder of Fairport Brewing Company, a microbrewery that crafts artisan beer.

Mr. Bullinger frequently acts in the lead role on his projects and has an excellent record of delivering projects on-time and on-budget. He is an acknowleged expert in the systems and software engineering field and has authored the book The Reverse Detective: Pragmatic Software Requirements & Analysis. Mr. Bullinger holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the State University of New York College at Brockport.
